- Kapitel 52 -

Why do you glory in evil?

(1 Samuel 22:6-23)

TO THE OVERSEER. AN INSTRUCTION OF DAVID, IN THE COMING IN OF DOEG THE EDOMITE, AND HE DECLARES TO SAUL AND SAYS TO HIM, “DAVID CAME TO THE HOUSE OF AHIMELECH.” Why do you boast in evil, O mighty one? The kindness of God [is] all the day.

Your tongue devises mischiefs, || Like a sharp razor, working deceit.

You have loved evil rather than good, || Lying, than speaking righteousness. Selah.

You have loved all devouring words, || O you deceitful tongue.

Also—God breaks you down forever, || Takes you, and pulls you out of the tent, || And He has uprooted you || Out of the land of the living. Selah.

And the righteous see, || And fear, and laugh at him.

“Behold, the man who does not make God his strong place, || And trusts in the abundance of his riches, || He is strong in his mischiefs.”

And I, as a green olive in the house of God, || I have trusted in the kindness of God, || For all time and forever,

I thank You for all time, because You have done [it], || And I wait [on] Your Name for [it is] good before Your saints!

Warum rühmst du dich des Bösen?

(1. Samuel 22,6-23)

Zum Ende, Unterweisung Davids,

als der Idumäer Doeg kam und dem Saul berichtete: David ist in das Haus Achimelechs gekommen.

Was rühmst du dich in der Bosheit, der du mächtig bist in der Ungerechtigkeit?

den ganzen Tag sinnt deine Zunge Frevel, wie ein scharfes Schermesser übst du Trug.

Du liebst das Böse mehr als das Gute, redest lieber Unrecht, als was billig ist.

Du liebst nur verderbliche Reden, trügerische Zunge!

Darum wird dich Gott ganz und gar vernichten, dich hinwegraffen und dich vertreiben aus deinem Gezelte und deine Wurzel herausreißen aus dem Lande der Lebendigen.

Die Gerechten werden es sehen und sich fürchten und ihn verlachen und sagen:

Sehet da den Mann, der Gott nicht zu seinem Helfer machte, sondern auf die Menge seines Reichtums vertraute und sich stark dünkte in dem, was eitel war.

Ich aber bin im Hause Gottes wie ein fruchtbarer Ölbaum, ich hoffe auf das Erbarmen Gottes immer und ewig.

Ich will dich immerdar preisen, weil du es getan hast, und will auf deinen Namen hoffen, denn er ist gütig angesichts deiner Heiligen.
