The Prophet Ezekiel

- Kapitel 14 -

(Romans 14:13–23; 1 Corinthians 8:1–13)

And men from [the] elderly of Israel come to me, and sit before me.

And there is a word of YHWH to me, saying,

“Son of man, these men have caused their idols to go up on their heart, and they have put the stumbling-block of their iniquity before their faces; am I inquired of at all by them?

Therefore, speak with them, and you have said to them, Thus said Lord YHWH: Everyone of the house of Israel who causes his idols to go up to his heart, and sets the stumbling-block of his iniquity before his face, and has gone to the prophet—I, YHWH, have given an answer to him for this, for the abundance of his idols,

in order to catch the house of Israel by their heart, in that they have become estranged from off Me by their idols—all of them.

Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus said Lord YHWH: Turn back, indeed, turn back from your idols, and turn back your faces from all your abominations,

for everyone of the house of Israel, and of the sojourners who sojourn in Israel, who is separated from after Me, and causes his idols to go up to his heart, and sets the stumbling-block of his iniquity before his face, and has come to the prophet to inquire of him concerning Me, I, YHWH, have answered him for Myself;

and I have set My face against that man, and made him for a sign, and for allegories, and I have cut him off from the midst of My people, and you have known that I [am] YHWH.

And the prophet, when he is enticed, and has spoken a word—I, YHWH, have enticed that prophet, and have stretched out My hand against him, and have destroyed him from the midst of My people Israel.

And they have borne their iniquity: as the iniquity of the inquirer, so is the iniquity of the prophet;

so that the house of Israel does not wander from after Me anymore, nor are they defiled with all their transgressions anymore, and they have been to Me for a people, and I am to them for God—a declaration of Lord YHWH.”

Four Dire Judgments

And there is a word of YHWH to me, saying,

“Son of man, when the land sins against Me to commit a trespass, and I have stretched out My hand against it, and broken the staff of bread for it, and sent famine into it, and cut off man and beast from it—

and [despite] these three men [that] have been in its midst: Noah, Daniel, and Job—they [only] deliver their own soul by their righteousness,” a declaration of Lord YHWH.

“If I cause an evil beast to pass through the land, and it has bereaved, and it has been a desolation, without any passing through because of the beast—

[despite] these three men in its midst—[as] I live,” a declaration of Lord YHWH, “they deliver neither sons nor daughters; they alone are delivered, and the land is a desolation.

Or [if] I bring a sword in against that land, and I have said: Sword, pass over through the land, and I have cut off man and beast from it—

and [despite] these three men in its midst—[as] I live,” a declaration of Lord YHWH, “they do not deliver sons and daughters, for they alone are delivered.

Or [if] I send pestilence to that land, and I have poured out My fury against it in blood, to cut off man and beast from it—

and [despite] Noah, Daniel, and Job, in its midst—[as] I live,” a declaration of Lord YHWH, “they deliver neither son nor daughter; they, by their righteousness, [only] deliver their own soul.”

For thus said Lord YHWH: “Although My four severe judgments—sword, and famine, and wild beast, and pestilence—I have sent to Jerusalem, to cut off man and beast from it,

yet, behold, there has been left an escape in it, who are brought forth, sons and daughters, behold, they are coming forth to you, and you have seen their way, and their doings, and have been comforted concerning the calamity that I have brought in against Jerusalem, all that which I have brought in against it.

And they have comforted you, for you see their way and their doings, and you have known that I have not done all that which I have done in her for nothing,” a declaration of Lord YHWH.

Götzendienst wird bestraft werden

(Römer 14,13-23; 1. Korinther 8,1-13)

Es kamen aber Männer von den Ältesten Israels zu mir und setzten sich vor mir nieder.

Da erging das Wort des Herrn an mich also:

Menschensohn! Diese Männer haben ihre Greuel in ihren Herzen und haben den Anstoß zu ihrer Verschuldung vor ihrem Angesicht aufgestellt, sollte ich ihnen auf ihre Fragen antworten?

Darum rede mit ihnen und sprich zu ihnen: So spricht der Herr, Gott: Jeder vom Hause Israel, der sein Scheusal in sein Herz aufnimmt und den Anstoß zu seiner Versündigung vor seinem Angesichte aufstellt und trotzdem zu einem Propheten kommt und mich durch ihn befragt, dem werde ich, der Herr, antworten nach der Menge seiner Greuel;

damit das Haus Israel in seinem Herzen ergriffen werde, mit dem sie von mir durch alle ihre Götzen abtrünnig geworden sind.

Darum sprich zu dem Hause Israel: So spricht der Herr, Gott: Bekehret euch und verlasset eure Götzen und wendet euer Antlitz ab von allen euren Greueln.

Denn jeder vom Hause Israel oder von den Fremdlingen, die unter Israel weilen, der sich von mir abwendet und seine Götzen in sein Herz aufnimmt und den Anstoß zu seiner Verschuldung vor seinem Angesicht aufstellt und dennoch zum Propheten kommt, um mich durch diesen zu befragen, dem will ich, der Herr, selbst Antwort geben.

Ich will mein Angesicht wider einen solchen richten und will ihn zum Beispiel und zum Sprichworte machen und ihn aus der Mitte meines Volkes ausrotten und ihr sollt erkennen, dass ich der Herr bin.

Wenn aber ein Prophet sich verleiten lässt, ein Wort zu reden, so habe ich, der Herr, einen solchen Propheten betört und ich will meine Hand über ihn ausstrecken und ihn wegtilgen aus der Mitte meines Volkes Israel.

Sie werden ihre Verschuldung tragen; wie die Verschuldung des Fragenden, so wird die Verschuldung des Propheten sein,

damit das Haus Israel nicht ferner von mir abirre und sich nicht mehr durch alle seine Übertretungen beflecke; sondern sie sollen mein Volk sein und ich will ihr Gott sein, spricht der Herr der Heerscharen.

Gericht über anhaltende Untreue

Und es erging das Wort des Herrn an mich also:

Menschensohn! Wenn ein Land sich wider mich versündigt und Treubruch begeht, so strecke ich meine Hand über dasselbe aus und zerbreche ihm die Stütze des Brotes und schicke Hunger über dasselbe und vertilge darin Menschen und Vieh.

Und wenn diese drei Männer sich in seiner Mitte befänden, Noe, Daniel und Job, so würden sie durch ihre Gerechtigkeit nur ihre eigenen Seelen retten, spricht der Herr der Heerscharen.

Wenn ich wilde Tiere in das Land kommen ließe, um es zu verwüsten, und es würde verödet, so dass niemand es mehr durchzöge wegen der Tiere,

so würden, so wahr ich lebe! Spricht der Herr, Gott, jene drei Männer, wenn sie darin wären, weder Söhne noch Töchter retten; sondern sie allein würden gerettet, das Land aber zur Wüstenei werden.

Oder wenn ich das Schwert über dieses Land kommen ließe und zum Schwerte spräche: Jahre hin über das Land und ich Menschen und Vieh darin tötete,

so würden, so wahr ich lebe, spricht der Herr, Gott, jene drei Männer, wenn sie darin wären, weder Söhne noch Töchter retten; sondern sie würden allein gerettet werden.

Oder wenn ich eine Seuche über dieses Land schickte und in Blut meinen Grimm über dasselbe ausschüttete, um Menschen und Vieh daraus zu vertilgen,

Noe aber, Daniel und Job wären darin, so würden sie, so wahr ich lebe! Spricht der Herr, Gott, weder Sohn noch Tochter retten; sondern nur ihre eigenen Seelen würden durch ihre Gerechtigkeit erretten.

Denn also spricht der Herr, Gott: Wenn ich meine vier schlimmen Gerichte, Schwert, Hunger, wilde Tiere und Seuche über Jerusalem entsende, um Menschen und Vieh aus demselben zu vertilgen,

so soll dennoch etlichen darin Rettung werden, dass sie ihre Söhne und Töchter herausführen; sehet, diese werden dann zu euch kommen und ihr werdet getröstet werden über das Unheil, welches ich über Jerusalem gebracht habe, über alles, was ich über dasselbe habe kommen lassen.

Und sie werden euer Trost sein, wenn ihr ihren Wandel und ihr Tun seht; und ihr werdet erkennen, dass ich alles, was ich an ihr getan, nicht ohne Ursache getan habe, spricht der Herr, Gott.
