When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.(a)

Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.(b)

The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

Turn again our captivity, O Lord , as the streams in the south.

They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.(c)

He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.(d)

When the LORD brought back those who returned to Zion, we were like those who dream.

Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing. Then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”

The LORD has done great things for us, and we are glad.

Restore our fortunes again, LORD, like the streams in the Negev.

Those who sow in tears will reap in joy.

He who goes out weeping, carrying seed for sowing, will certainly come again with joy, carrying his sheaves.
