- Kapitel 6 -

(1 Chronicles 13:1–7)

Again, David gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.

And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the Lord of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubims.(a)

And they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart.(c)

And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah, accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark.(e)

Uzzah Touches the Ark

(1 Chronicles 13:8–14)

And David and all the house of Israel played before the Lord on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.

And when they came to Nachon’s threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.(f)

And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.(h)

And David was displeased, because the Lord had made a breach upon Uzzah: and he called the name of the place Perez–uzzah to this day.(i)

And David was afraid of the Lord that day, and said, How shall the ark of the Lord come to me?

So David would not remove the ark of the Lord unto him into the city of David: but David carried it aside into the house of Obed–edom the Gittite.

And the ark of the Lord continued in the house of Obed–edom the Gittite three months: and the Lord blessed Obed–edom, and all his household.

The Ark Brought to Jerusalem

(1 Chronicles 15:1–28)

And it was told king David, saying, The Lord hath blessed the house of Obed–edom, and all that pertaineth unto him, because of the ark of God. So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed–edom into the city of David with gladness.

And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the Lord had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings.

And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.

So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet.

Michal’s Contempt for David

(1 Chronicles 15:29–16:3)

And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord ; and she despised him in her heart.

And they brought in the ark of the Lord , and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord .(k)

And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts.

And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed every one to his house.

Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!(l)

And David said unto Michal, It was before the Lord , which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the Lord , over Israel: therefore will I play before the Lord .

And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.(m)

Therefore Michal the daughter of Saul had no child unto the day of her death.

Die Lade wird nach Jerusalem gebracht

(1. Chronik 13,1-7)

David aber versammelte abermals alle Auserlesenen aus Israel, dreißigtausend Mann.

Und er machte sich auf und ging hin mit allem Volke, das von den Männern Judas bei ihm war, die Lade Gottes heraufzuholen, über welcher der Name des Herrn der Heerscharen angerufen ist, der auf ihr über den Cherubim thront.

Und sie setzten die Lade Gottes auf einen neuen Wagen und brachten sie aus dem Hause Abinadabs, welcher in Gabaa wohnte, hinweg; Oza aber und Ahio, die Söhne Abinadabs, führten den neuen Wagen,

Als sie nun die Lade aus dem Hause Abinadabs, der in Gabaa wohnte, geholt hatten, hing Ahio, die Lade Gottes hütend, vor derselben her.

(1. Chronik 13,8-14)

David aber und ganz Israel spielten vor dem Herrn auf allerlei Holzinstrumenten, auf Zithern und Lauten und Pauken und Zinken und Zimbeln.

Als sie aber bei der Tenne Nachon ankamen, streckte Oza seine Hand aus nach der Lade Gottes und hielt sie fest, denn die Rinder schlugen aus und brachten sie ins Schwanken.

Da ergrimmte der Zorn des Herrn gegen Oza und er schlug ihn wegen der Vermessenheit und er starb daselbst bei der Lade Gottes.

David aber wurde bestürzt, weil der Herr Oza getötet hatte, und man nannte diesen Ort Erschlagung Ozas bis auf diesen Tag.

Da kam über David an jenem Tage Furcht vor dem Herrn und er sprach: Wie dürfte die Lade des Herrn zu mir kommen?

So wollte er denn die Lade des Herrn nicht zu sich in die Davidsstadt kommen lassen, sondern ließ sie in das Haus des Gethiters Obedom bringen.

Und die Lade des Herrn blieb drei Monate im Hause des Gethiters Obededom, der Herr aber segnete den Obededom und sein ganzes Haus.

(1. Chronik 15,1-28)

Als nun dem Könige David kundgetan ward, dass der Herr Obededom und all das Seinige um der Lade Gottes willen gesegnet habe, zog David hin und holte die Lade Gottes vom Hause Obededoms in die Davidsstadt unter Freudenbezeigungen herauf. Und David hatte sieben Chöre bei sich und junge Rinder zum Schlachtopfer.

Als nun die, welche die Lade des Herrn trugen, sechs Schritte gemacht hatten, opferte er einen Ochsen und einen Widder

und David tanzte mit aller Kraft vor dem Herrn her, angetan mit einem linnenen Ephod.

So geleitete David und das ganze Haus Israel die Lade des Zeugnisses des Herrn mit Jubel und Posaunenschall hinauf.

(1. Chronik 15,29-16,3)

Als nun die Lade des Herrn in die Stadt Davids einzog, schaute Michol, die Tochter Sauls, durch das Fenster, und da sie den König David vor dem Herrn her hüpfen und tanzen sah, verachtete sie ihn in ihrem Herzen.

Sie brachten also die Lade des Herrn hinein und stellten sie an ihren Platz in der Mitte des Zeltes, welches David für sie aufgeschlagen hatte, und David brachte Brandopfer und Friedopfer vor dem Herrn dar.

Und nachdem er die Brandopfer und Friedopfer dargebracht hatte, segnete er das Volk im Namen des Herrn der Heerscharen.

Alsdann verteilte er unter die ganze Menge Israels, an einen jeden, Mann wie Weib, einen Brotkuchen und ein Stück gebratenes Rindfleisch und mit Öl geröstetes Gebäck; darnach zog alles Volk fort, ein jeder in sein Haus.

Als aber David heimkehrte, sein Haus zu segnen, trat Michol, die Tochter Sauls, heraus, David entgegen und sprach: Wie herrlich ist heute der König von Israel gewesen, indem er sich vor den Mägden seiner Diener entkleidet und entblößt hat, wie ein Possenreißer zu tun pflegt!

David sprach zu Michol: Vor dem Herrn, der mich vielmehr auserwählt hat als deinen Vater und seine ganze Familie, und der mir geboten hat, Fürst über das Volk des Herrn in Israel zu sein,

werde ich spielen und noch geringer werden als ich gewesen bin, und mich demütigen in meinen Augen und vor den Mägden, von denen du geredet hast, noch herrlicher erscheinen.

Michol, die Tochter Sauls, gebar daher kein Kind, bis zum Tage ihres Todes.
