- Kapitel 11 -

Now the Lord had saide vnto Moses, yet will I bring one plague more vpon Pharaoh, and vpon Egypt: after that, he will let you go hence: when he letteth you goe, he shall at once chase you hence.

Speake thou nowe to the people, that euery man require of his neighbour, and euery woman of her neighbour iewels of siluer and iewels of gold.

And the Lord gaue the people fauour in the sight of the Egyptians: also Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaohs seruantes, and in the sight of the people.)

Also Moses sayde, Thus sayth the Lord, About midnight will I goe out into the middes of Egypt.

And all the first borne in the lande of Egypt shall die, from the first borne of Pharaoh that sitteth on his throne, vnto the first borne of the maide seruant, that is at the mille, and all the first borne of beastes.

Then there shalbe a great crie throughout all the land of Egypt, such as was neuer none like, nor shalbe.

But against none of ye children of Israel shall a dogge moue his tongue, neyther against man nor beast, that ye may knowe that the Lord putteth a difference betweene the Egyptians and Israel.

And all these thy seruants shall come downe vnto me, and fal before me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that are at thy feete, and after this will I depart. So he went out from Pharaoh very angry.

And the Lord saide vnto Moses, Pharaoh shall not heare you, that my wonders may bee multiplied in the land of Egypt.

So Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: but the Lord hardened Pharaohs heart, and he suffred not the children of Israel to goe out of his lande.

Der Tod der Erstgeborenen wird verkündet

Und der Herr sprach zu Moses: Noch mit einer Plage will ich Pharao und Ägypten schlagen, alsdann wird er euch ziehen lassen, ja euch drängen, wegzuziehen.

Sage daher dem ganzen Volke, dass die Männer von ihren Freunden, und die Weiber von ihren Nachbarinnen silberne und goldene Gefäße fordern.

Der Herr aber wird sein Volk Gnade bei den Ägyptern finden lassen. Auch war Moses ein sehr angesehener Mann im Lande Ägypten, bei den Dienern Pharaos und bei dem ganzen Volke.

Da sprach er: So spricht der Herr: Um Mitternacht werde ich durch Ägypten gehen;

und alle Erstgeborenen im Lande der Ägypter sollen sterben, vom Erstgeborenen Pharaos an, der auf seinem Throne sitzt, bis zum Erstgeborenen der Magd, welche an der Mühle ist, sowie alle Erstgeburt des Viehes.

Und es wird ein großes Jammergeschrei im ganzen Lande Ägypten entstehen, wie kein zweites zuvor gewesen ist, noch fernerhin sein wird.

Bei allen Söhnen Israels hingegen wird kein Hund einen Laut geben, weder Mensch noch Vieh; damit ihr erkennet, wie wunderbar der Herr zwischen den Ägyptern und Israel scheidet.

Dann werden alle diese deine Diener zu mir kommen, und vor mir niederfallen, und sagen: Ziehe hinweg mit allem Volke, das dir untergeben ist. Darnach werden wir ausziehen.

Und er verließ Pharao in großem Zorne. Der Herr aber sprach zu Moses: Pharao wird nicht auf euch hören, damit viele Wunderzeichen im Lande Ägypten geschehen.

Moses aber und Aaron taten vor Pharao alle diese Wunder, welche hier geschrieben sind. Aber der Herr verhärtete Pharaos Herz, und er ließ die Söhne Israels nicht aus seinem Land wegziehen.
