- Kapitel 5 -

1
Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ, is born of God. And every one that loveth him who begot, loveth him also who is born of him.
2
In this we know that we love the children of God: when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3
For this is the charity of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not heavy.
4
For whatsoever is born of God, overcometh the world: and this is the victory which overcometh the world, our faith.
5
Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6
This is he that came by water and blood, Jesus Christ: not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit which testifieth, that Christ is the truth.
7
And there are three who give testimony in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost. And these three are one.
8
And there are three that give testimony on earth: the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three are one.

God’s Testimony about His Son

If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater. For this is the testimony of God, which is greater, because he hath testified of his Son.

He that believeth in the Son of God, hath the testimony of God in himself. He that believeth not the Son, maketh him a liar: because he believeth not in the testimony which God hath testified of his Son.

And this is the testimony, that God hath given to us eternal life. And this life is in his Son.

He that hath the Son, hath life. He that hath not the Son, hath not life.

Effective Prayer

These things I write to you, that you may know that you have eternal life, you who believe in the name of the Son of God.

And this is the confidence which we have towards him: That, whatsoever we shall ask according to his will, he heareth us.
15
And we know that he heareth us whatsoever we ask: we know that we have the petitions which we request of him.
16
He that knoweth his brother to sin a sin which is not to death, let him ask, and life shall be given to him, who sinneth not to death. There is a sin unto death: for that I say not that any man ask.
17
All iniquity is sin. And there is a sin unto death.

The True God

We know that whosoever is born of God, sinneth not: but the generation of God preserveth him, and the wicked one toucheth him not.
19
We know that we are of God, and the whole world is seated in wickedness.
20
And we know that the Son of God is come: and he hath given us understanding that we may know the true God, and may be in his true Son. This is the true God and life eternal.

Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

Jeder, der glaubt, dass Jesus der Christ sei, ist aus Gott geboren; und jeder, welcher den Erzeuger liebt, liebt auch den, der von ihm erzeugt ist.

Daran erkennen wir, dass wir die Kinder Gottes lieben, wenn wir Gott lieben und seine Gebote halten.

Denn das ist die Liebe zu Gott, dass wir seine Gebote halten, und seine Gebote sind nicht schwer.
4
Denn alles, was aus Gott geboren ist, überwindet die Welt; und das ist der Sieg, welcher die Welt überwindet: der Glaube.

Wer ist es, der die Welt überwindet, als nur wer glaubt, dass Jesus der Sohn Gottes ist?

Die Gewissheit von Gottes Zeugnis

Dieser ist es, der durch Wasser und Blut gekommen ist, Jesus Christus, nicht in Wasser allein, sondern in Wasser und Blut. Und der Geist ist es, welcher Zeugnis gibt, dass Christus die Wahrheit ist.

Denn drei sind, welche Zeugnis geben im Himmel: Der Vater, das Wort und der Heilige Geist; und diese drei sind eines.

Und drei sind, welche Zeugnis geben auf Erden: Der Geist und das Wasser, und das Blut; und diese drei sind eines.
9
Wenn wir das Zeugnis der Menschen annehmen, so ist das Zeugnis Gottes größer; denn dies ist das Zeugnis Gottes, welches größer ist, dass er Zeugnis gegeben hat von seinem Sohne.

Wer an den Sohn Gottes glaubt, hat das Zeugnis Gottes in sich. Wer dem Sohne nicht glaubt, macht ihn zum Lügner, weil er an das Zeugnis nicht glaubt, welches Gott über seinen Sohn gegeben hat.

Und dies ist das Zeugnis, dass uns Gott das ewige Leben gegeben hat; und dieses Leben ist in seinem Sohne.

Wer den Sohn hat, hat das Leben; wer den Sohn nicht hat, hat das Leben nicht.

Dieses schreibe ich euch, damit ihr wisset, dass ihr das ewige Leben habt, die ihr an den Namen des Sohnes Gottes glaubt.

Zuversicht und Mitgefühl im Gebet

Und dies ist die Zuversicht, welche wir zu ihm haben, dass er uns in allem, was wir nach seinem Willen begehren werden, erhört.

Und wenn wir wissen, dass er uns erhört, um was wir immer bitten, so wissen wir, dass wir das von ihm Erbetene erlangen.

Wer weiß, dass sein Bruder sündigt, aber nicht zum Tode, der bitte, und es wird dem, der nicht zum Tode sündigt, das Leben gegeben werden. Es gibt eine Sünde zum Tode; nicht für diese, sage ich, dass jemand beten solle.
17
Jede Ungerechtigkeit ist Sünde; so gibt es auch eine Sünde, die zum Tode ist.

Das Wahre erkennen - das Falsche ablehnen

Wir wissen, dass jeder, der aus Gott geboren ist, nicht sündigt, sondern die Geburt aus Gott bewahrt ihn, und der Arge tastet ihn nicht an.

Wir wissen, dass wir aus Gott sind; und die ganze Welt in dem Argen liegt.
20
Und wir wissen, dass der Sohn Gottes gekommen ist, und uns Einsicht verliehen hat, dass wir den wahren Gott erkennen und in seinem wahren Sohne seien. Dies ist der wahre Gott und das ewige Leben.

Kindlein! hütet euch vor den Götzen. Amen.
