- Chapter 87 -

The Lord loves the gates of Zion

A Canticle Psalm to the sons of Korah. Its foundations are in the holy mountains:(a)
2
the Lord loves the gates of Zion above all the tabernacles of Jacob.
3
Glorious things are being said of you, O City of God.
4
I will be mindful of Rahab and of Babylon knowing me. Behold, the foreigners, and Tyre, and the people of the Ethiopians: these have been there.(b)
5
Will not Zion say that this man and that man were born in her? And the Most High himself has founded her.(c)
6
The Lord will explain, in the writings of peoples and of leaders, about those who have been in her.
7
For so the dwelling place within you is with all rejoicing.

The Lord loves the gates of Zion

His foundation is in the holy mountains.

The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.

Glorious things are spoken about you, city of God. Selah.

I will record Rahab (a) and Babylon among those who acknowledge me. Behold, Philistia, Tyre, and also Ethiopia:This one was born there.”

Yes, of Zion it will be said, “This one and that one was born in her;” the Most High himself will establish her.
6
The LORD will count, when he writes up the peoples,This one was born there.” Selah.
7
Those who sing as well as those who dance say,All my springs are in you.”
