- Kapitel 20 -

(Matthew 28:1–10; Mark 16:1–8; Luke 24:1–12)

And on the first [day] of the weeks, Mary the Magdalene comes early (there being yet darkness) to the tomb, and she sees the stone having been taken away out of the tomb;

she runs, therefore, and comes to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus was cherishing, and says to them, “They took away the Lord out of the tomb, and we have not known where they laid Him.”

Peter, therefore, went forth, and the other disciple, and they were coming to the tomb,

and the two were running together, and the other disciple ran forward more quickly than Peter, and came first to the tomb,

and having stooped down, sees the linen clothes lying, yet, indeed, he did not enter.

Simon Peter, therefore, comes, following him, and he entered into the tomb, and beholds the linen clothes lying [there],

and the napkin that was on His head not lying with the linen clothes, but apart, having been folded up, in one place;

then, therefore, the other disciple who came first to the tomb entered also, and he saw and believed;

for they did not yet know the Writing, that it was necessary for Him to rise again out of the dead.

Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene

(Mark 16:9–11)

The disciples therefore went away again to their own friends,

and Mary was standing near the tomb, weeping outside; as she was weeping, then, she stooped down into the tomb, and beholds two messengers in white, sitting,

one at the head and one at the feet, where the body of Jesus had been laid.

And they say to her, “Woman, why do you weep?” She says to them, “Because they took away my Lord, and I have not known where they laid Him”;

and having said these things, she turned backward, and sees Jesus standing, and she had not known that it is Jesus.

Jesus says to her, “Woman, why do you weep? Whom do you seek?” She, supposing that He is the gardener, says to Him, “Lord, if You carried Him away, tell me where You laid Him, and I will take Him away”;

Jesus says to her, “Mary!” Having turned, she says to Him, “Rabboni!” That is to say, “Teacher.”

Jesus says to her, “Do not be touching Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; and be going on to My brothers, and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and [to] My God and your God.”

Mary the Magdalene comes, reporting to the disciples that she has seen the LORD, and [that] He said these things to her.

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

(Luke 24:36–49; 1 John 1:1–4)

It being, therefore, evening, on that day, the first [day] of the weeks, and the doors having been shut where the disciples were assembled through fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and says to them, “Peace to you”;

and having said this, He showed them His hands and side; the disciples, therefore, rejoiced, having seen the LORD.

Jesus, therefore, said to them again, “Peace to you; according as the Father has sent Me, I also send you”;

having said this, He breathed on [them], and says to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit;

if you may forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you may retain of any, they have been retained.”

Jesus Appears to Thomas

And Thomas, one of the Twelve, who is called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came;

the other disciples, therefore, said to him, “We have seen the Lord!” And he said to them, “If I may not see the mark of the nails in His hands, and may [not] put my finger into the mark of the nails, and may [not] put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”

And after eight days, again His disciples were within, and Thomas [was] with them; Jesus comes, the doors having been shut, and He stood in the midst and said, “Peace to you!”

Then He says to Thomas, “Bring your finger here, and see My hands, and bring your hand, and put [it] into My side, and do not become unbelieving, but believing.”

And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”

Jesus says to him, “Because you have seen Me, Thomas, you have believed; blessed [are] those having not seen, and having believed.”

The Purpose of John’s Book

Many indeed, therefore, other signs Jesus also did before His disciples that are not written in this scroll;

and these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing, you may have life in His Name.

Das leere Grab

(Matthäus 28,1-10; Markus 16,1-8; Lukas 24,1-12)

Am ersten Tage der Woche aber kam Maria Magdalena früh, da es noch finster war, zum Grabe, und sah den Stein vom Grabe weggenommen.

Da lief sie, und kam zu Simon Petrus, und zu dem andern Jünger, welchen Jesus lieb hatte, und sprach zu ihnen: Sie haben den Herrn aus dem Grabe weggenommen, und wir wissen nicht, wo sie ihn hingelegt haben.

Da gingen Petrus und der andere Jünger hinaus, und kamen zum Grabe.

Beide liefen aber zugleich, doch der andere Jünger lief schneller voran als Petrus, und kam zuerst zum Grabe.

Und sich vorwärts neigend, sah er die Leintücher da liegen, trat jedoch nicht in das Grab.

Da kam Simon Petrus, der ihm folgte, trat in das Grab, und sah die Leintücher liegen,

und das Schweißtuch, welches auf seinem Haupte gewesen war, das aber nicht zu den Leintüchern gelegt, sondern abgesondert an einem eigenen Orte zusammengewickelt war.

Dann trat auch jener Jünger, welcher zuerst zum Grabe gekommen war, in dasselbe; und er sah, und glaubte;

denn noch verstanden sie die Schrift nicht, dass er von den Toten auferstehen müsse.

(Markus 16,9-11)

Da gingen die Jünger wieder fort nach Hause.

Maria Magdalena sieht den auferstandenen Herrn

Maria aber stand draußen an dem Grabe und weinte. Während sie nun weinte, bückte sie sich, und sah in das Grab hinein.

Da erblickte sie zwei Engel in weißen Kleidern da sitzend, wo der Leichnam Jesu gelegen hatte, einen zu Häupten und einen zu Füßen.

Diese sagten zu ihr: Weib! was weinest du? Sie sprach zu ihnen: Weil sie meinen Herrn weggenommen haben; und ich weiß nicht, wo sie ihn hingelegt haben.

Als sie dies gesagt hatte, wandte sie sich um, und sah Jesus stehen; sie wusste aber nicht, dass es Jesus sei.

Jesus sprach zu ihr: Weib! Was weinest du? Wen suchest du? Da meinte sie, es wäre der Gärtner, und sprach zu ihm: Herr! wenn du ihn weggetragen hast, so sage mir, wo du ihn hingelegt hast, und ich werde ihn holen.

Jesus sprach zu ihr: Maria! Da wandte sie sich um, und sprach zu ihm: Rabboni (das heißt Meister)!

Jesus sprach zu ihr: Rühre mich nicht an, denn ich bin noch nicht aufgefahren zu meinem Vater; gehe aber hin zu meinen Brüdern, und sage ihnen: Ich fahre auf zu meinem Vater und eurem Vater, zu meinem Gott und eurem Gott.

Da kam Maria Magdalena, und verkündigte den Jüngern: Ich habe den Herrn gesehen, und dies hat er mir gesagt.

Die Beauftragung der Apostel

(Lukas 24,36-49; 1. Johannes 1,1-4)

Als es nun an demselben Tage, am ersten der Woche, Abend war, und die Türe des Hauses, wo die Jünger sich versammelt hatten, aus Furcht vor den Juden verschlossen waren, kam Jesus, stand in ihrer Mitte, und sprach zu ihnen: Friede sei mit euch!

Und als er dieses gesagt hatte, zeigte er ihnen die Hände und die Seite. Da freuten sich die Jünger, dass sie den Herrn sahen.

Er sprach abermals zu ihnen: Friede sei mit euch! Wie mich der Vater gesandt hat, so sende ich euch.

Da er dies gesagt hatte, hauchte er sie an, und sprach zu ihnen: Empfanget den Heiligen Geist!

Welchen ihr die Sünden nachlassen werdet, denen sind sie nachgelassen; und welchen ihr sie behalten werdet, denen sind sie behalten.

Sehen und Glauben

Thomas aber, einer von den Zwölf, der Zwilling genannt, war nicht bei ihnen, als Jesus kam.

Die andern Jünger sagten ihm also: Wir haben den Herrn gesehen. Er aber sprach zu ihnen: Wenn ich nicht an seinen Händen das Mal der Nägel sehe, und meinen Finger in die Stätte der Nägel, und meine Hand in seine Seite lege, so werde ich nicht glauben.

Nach acht Tagen waren seine Jünger wieder im Hause beisammen und Thomas mit ihnen. Da kam Jesus bei verschlossenen Türen, stand in ihrer Mitte, und sprach: Friede sei mit euch!

Dann sagte er zu Thomas: Lege deinen Finger hierher, und siehe meine Hände, und reiche deine Hand her, und lege sie in meine Seite; und sei nicht ungläubig, sondern gläubig!

Thomas antwortete, und sprach zu ihm: Mein Herr und mein Gott!

Jesus sprach zu ihm: Weil du mich gesehen hast, Thomas! hast du geglaubt; selig, die nicht gesehen, und doch geglaubt haben.

Damit du glaubst

Es hat Jesus zwar noch viele andere Zeichen vor den Augen seiner Jünger getan, welche nicht in diesem Buche geschrieben sind;

diese aber sind geschrieben, damit ihr glaubet, dass Jesus Christus ist, der Sohn Gottes; und damit ihr durch den Glauben das Leben habet in seinem Namen.
