- Kapitel 38 -

And there is a word of YHWH to me, saying,

“Son of man, set your face toward Gog, of the land of Magog, chief prince of [[ or prince of Rosh,]] Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy concerning him,

and you have said, Thus says Lord YHWH: Behold, I [am] against you, O Gog, || Chief prince of [[ or prince of Rosh,]] Meshech and Tubal,

And I have turned you back, || And I have put hooks in your jaws, || And have brought you out, and all your force, || Horses and horsemen, || All of them clothed in perfection, || A numerous assembly, [with] buckler and shield, || All of them handling swords.

Persia, Cush, and Phut, with them, || All of them [with] shield and helmet.

Gomer and all its bands, || The house of Togarmah [from] the sides of the north, || And all its bands, many peoples with you,

Be prepared, indeed, prepare yourself, || You and all your assemblies who are assembled to you, || And you have been for a watch for them.

After many days you are appointed, || In the latter end of the years you come into a land brought back from sword—Gathered out of many peoples, || On mountains of Israel, || That have been for a continuous ruin, || And it has been brought out from the peoples, || And all of them have dwelt safely.

And you have gone up—you come in as desolation, || You are as a cloud to cover the land, || You and all your bands, and many peoples with you.

Thus said Lord YHWH: And it has come to pass in that day, || Things come up on your heart, || And you have thought an evil thought,

And you have said: I go up over a land of open places, || I go to those at rest, dwelling confidently, || All of them are dwelling without walls, || And they have no bar and doors—

To take a spoil, and to take a prey, || To turn back your hand on inhabited ruins, || And on a people gathered out of nations, || Making livestock and substance, || Dwelling on a high part of the land.

Sheba, and Dedan, and merchants of Tarshish, || And all its young lions say to you, || Are you coming to take spoil? Have you assembled your assembly to take prey? To carry away silver and gold? To take away livestock and substance? To take a great spoil?

Therefore, prophesy, son of man, and you have said to Gog, Thus said Lord YHWH: In that day, in the dwelling of My people Israel safely, || Do you not know?

And you have come in out of your place, || From the sides of the north, || You and many peoples with you, || Riding on horses—all of them, || A great assembly, and a numerous force.

And you have come up against My people Israel, || As a cloud to cover the land, || It is in the latter end of the days, || And I have brought you in against My land, || In order that the nations may know Me, || In My being sanctified in you before their eyes, O Gog.

Thus said Lord YHWH: Are you he of whom I spoke in former days, || By the hand of My servants, prophets of Israel, || Who were prophesying [for] years in those days, || To bring you in against them?

And it has come to pass in that day, || In the day of the coming in of Gog against the land of Israel, || A declaration of Lord YHWH, || My fury comes up in My face,

And in My zeal, in the fire of My wrath, || I have spoken: Is there not a great rushing on the land of Israel in that day?

And rushed from My presence have fishes of the sea, || And the bird of the heavens, || And the beast of the field, || And every creeping thing that is creeping on the ground, || And all men who [are] on the face of the ground, || And the mountains have been thrown down, || And the ascents have fallen, || And every wall falls to the earth.

And I have called for a sword against him throughout all My mountains, || A declaration of Lord YHWH, || The sword of each is against his brother.

And I have judged him with pestilence and with blood, || And an overflowing rain and hailstones, || I rain fire and brimstone on him, and on his bands, || And on many peoples who [are] with him.

And I have magnified Myself, and sanctified Myself, || And I have been known before the eyes of many nations, || And they have known that I [am] YHWH!”

Gog und seine Verbündeten greifen Israel an

Und es erging an mich das Wort des Herrn, also:

Menschensohn! richte dein Angesicht wider Gog, das Land Magog, den obersten Fürsten von Mosoch und Thubal, und weissage über ihn

und sprich zu ihm: So spricht der Herr, Gott: Siehe, ich will an dich, Gog! du oberster Fürst von Mosoch und Thubal.

Ich werde dich umhertreiben und dir ein Gebiss in deine Kinnladen legen, ich werde dich und dein ganzes Heer hinwegführen, Rosse und Reiter, alle gepanzert, eine große Schar, mit Speer, Schild und Schwert bewehrt;

Perser, Äthiopier und Lybier mit ihnen, alle mit Schilden und Helmen versehen;

Gomer und alle seine Heerhaufen, das Haus Thogorma, auch das ferne Nordland, alle seine Heeresmacht und zahlreiche Völker sind mit dir.

Mache dich bereit, rüste dich und alle deine Heerscharen, die sich um dich versammelt haben, und sei ihr Befehlshaber!

Nach vielen Tagen wirst du heimgesucht werden, am Ende der Jahre wirst du in ein Land kommen, das vom Schwerte wieder frei, das aus vielen Völkern auf den Bergen Israels gesammelt ward, welche beständig wüste lagen; aus den Völkern ist es herausgeführt worden und daselbst werden sie nun insgesamt in Sicherheit wohnen.

Da wirst du heranziehen und daherkommen wie ein Ungewitter, wie eine Wolke, um das Land zu bedecken, du und alle deine Scharen und zahlreiche Völker mit dir.

So spricht der Herr, Gott: An jenem Tage werden Gedanken in deinem Herzen aufsteigen und du wirst mit schlimmen Plänen umgehen

und sagen: Ich will hinaufziehen gegen das Land, das keine Mauern hat, will über die Sorglos- und Sicherwohnenden kommen, wohnen sie doch alle ohne Mauern und haben weder Riegel noch Tore;

um Raub zu holen und Beute zu erlangen, deine Hand wider das zu wenden, was verwüstet war und darnach wieder aufgebaut ward, und wider ein Volk, das aus den Völkern gesammelt ward, welches sein Besitztum eingenommen hat und die Höhe er Erde wieder bewohnt.

Saba und Dedan, die Kaufleute von Tharsis und alle ihre Löwen werden zu dir sagen: Kommst du etwa, um Raub zu holen? Siehe, um Beute zu holen, hast du deine Heerhaufen gesammelt, um Silber und Gold wegzunehmen, Hausgerät und Habe wegzutragen, unermessliche Beute zu erhaschen.

Darum weissage, Menschensohn! und sprich zu Gog: So spricht der Herr, Gott: Wirst du es nicht an dem Tage, da mein Volk Israel sicher wohnt, erkennen?

Ja, du wirst von deiner Stätte, von ferner Mitternacht her kommen, du und viele Völker mit dir, insgesamt Reiter auf Rossen sitzend, eine große Schar, ein gar mächtiges Heer.

Und du wirst mein Volk Israel heranziehen, um wie eine Wolke das Land zu bedecken. In den letzten Tagen wirst du erscheinen und ich werde dich über mein Land herbeiführen, damit die Völker mich erkennen, wenn ich vor ihren Augen an dir, o Gog, mich als heilig erweise.

So spricht der Herr, Gott: Ja, du bist es, von dem ich in den Tagen der Vorzeit durch meine Diener, die Propheten Israels, gesprochen habe, welche in den Tagen jener Zeit weissagten, dass ich dich über sie herführen werde.

Gericht über Gog

Und es wird an jenem Tage, am Tage, wo Gog wider das Land Israel heranzieht, geschehen, spricht der Herr, Gott, dass mein grimmiger Zorn sich erhebt.

Und in meinem Eifer, im Feuer meines Zornes, rede ich es: Fürwahr, an jenem Tage wird ein großes Erdbeben über das Land Israel kommen,

dann werden vor meinem Angesichte die Fische des Meeres erbeben und die Vögel unter dem Himmel und die Tiere des Feldes und alles Gewürm, das sich auf Erden regt, und alle Menschen, welche auf dem Erdboden sind, und die Berge werden umgestürzt werden, die Wände einfallen und jegliche Mauer zu Boden sinken.

Und ich werde auf allen meinen Bergen wider ihn das Schwert herbeirufen, spricht der Herr, Gott, eines jeden Schwert wird wider seinen Bruder gerichtet sein.

Und ich werde an ihm Gericht halten mit Seuche und Blutvergießen, mit heftigem Platzregen und gewaltigen Hagelsteinen, Feuer und Schwefel werde ich auf ihn, auf sein Heer und auf die vielen Völker regnen lassen, welche bei ihm sind.

Und ich werde mich groß und heilig erweisen und mich vor den Augen vieler Völker kundmachen, und sie werden erkennen, dass ich der Herr bin.
