The Second Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians

- Kapitel 5 -

(Romans 8:18–27)

For we have known that if the tent of our earthly house may be thrown down, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands—perpetual—in the heavens,

for also in this we groan, earnestly desiring to clothe ourselves with our dwelling that is from Heaven,

if so be that, having clothed ourselves, we will not be found naked,

for we also who are in the tent groan, being burdened, seeing we do not wish to unclothe ourselves, but to clothe ourselves, that the mortal may be swallowed up of life.

And He who worked us to this very thing [is] God, who also gave to us the deposit of the Spirit;

having courage, then, at all times, and knowing that being at home in the body, we are away from home from the LORD—

for we walk through faith, not through sight—

we have courage, and are well pleased, rather, to be away from the home of the body, and to be at home with the LORD.

We are also ambitious for this reason, whether at home or away from home, to be well pleasing to Him,

for it is necessary for all of us to have appeared before the judgment seat of the Christ, that each one may receive the things [done] through the body, in reference to the things that he did, whether good or evil;

Ambassadors for Christ

having known, therefore, the fear of the LORD, we persuade men, and we are revealed to God, and I also hope to have been revealed in your consciences;

for we do not again recommend ourselves to you, but we are giving occasion to you of glorifying in our behalf, that you may have [something] in reference to those glorifying in face and not in heart;

for whether we were beside ourselves, [it was] to God; whether we be of sound mind, [it is] to you,

for the love of the Christ constrains us, having judged thus: that if one died for all, then the whole died,

and He died for all, that those living may no longer live to themselves, but to Him who died for them, and was raised again.

So that we, from now on, have known no one according to the flesh, and even if we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him [thus] no longer;

so that if anyone [is] in Christ—[he is] a new creature; the old things passed away, behold, all things have become new.

And all things [are] of God, who reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and gave to us the ministry of the reconciliation,

how that God was in Christ—reconciling the world to Himself, not reckoning to them their trespasses; and having put in us the word of the reconciliation,

in behalf of Christ, then, we are ambassadors, as if God were calling through us, we implore, in behalf of Christ, “Be reconciled to God”;

He made Him having not known sin [to be] sin in our behalf, that we may become the righteousness of God in Him.

Die Gewissheit der Auferstehung

(Römer 8,18-27)

Denn wir wissen, dass, wenn diese unsere irdische Hütte abgebrochen wird, wir einen Bau von Gott empfangen, ein nicht mit Händen gemachtes ewiges Haus im Himmel.

Denn auch in dieser Hütte seufzen wir voll Verlangen, mit unserer Wohnung, die vom Himmel ist, überkleidet zu werden;

wenn anders wir bekleidet, nicht bloß befunden werden.

Denn da auch wir in diesem Zelte sind, seufzen wir bedrückt, weil wir nicht entkleidet, sondern überkleidet werden wollen, so dass das Sterbliche vom Leben verschlungen wird.

Der uns aber hierzu bereit macht, ist Gott, der uns das Unterpfand des Geistes gegeben hat.

Darum hegen wir festes Vertrauen immerdar, indem wir wissen, dass, so lange wir im Leibe sind, wir in der Fremde sind, fern vom Herrn,

(den im Glauben wandeln wir, und nicht im Schauen.)

Ja, wir hegen festes Vertrauen und unser Sinn geht darauf, eher auszuziehen aus dem Leibe und einzugehen zu dem Herrn.

Der Richterstuhl Christi

Darum bemühen wir uns auch, sei es im Leibe, sei es außerhalb desselben, ihm zu gefallen.

Denn alle müssen wir offenbar werden vor dem Richterstuhle Christi, damit ein jeder, je nachdem er in seinem Leibe Gutes oder Böses getan hat, darnach empfange.

Da wir nun wissen, dass der Herr zu fürchten ist, überzeugen wir die Menschen, und Gott sind wir offenbar. Ich hoffe aber, dass wir auch in euren Gewissen offenbar sind.

Mit Gott versöhnt sein

Wir wollen uns euch nicht wiederum empfehlen, sondern geben euch Anlass, euch unser zu rühmen, damit ihr denen antworten könnet, die ihren Ruhm im Äußern und nicht im Innern suchen.

Denn sei es, dass wir uns übernehmen, so ist es für Gott; sei es, dass wir uns mäßigen, so ist es für euch.

Denn die Liebe Christi drängt uns, indem wir also urteilen: Ist einer für alle gestorben, so sind alle gestorben;

und für alle ist Christus gestorben, damit auch die, welche leben, nicht mehr sich selbst leben, sondern dem, der für sie gestorben und auferstanden ist.

Darum kennen wir von nun an dem Fleische nach niemand mehr; und wenn wir auch dem Fleische nach Christus gekannt haben, so kennen wir ihn doch jetzt nicht mehr.

Wenn somit jemand in Christus ist, so ist er ein neues Geschöpf, so ist das Alte vorübergegangen; siehe, so ist alles neu geworden.

Alles aber kommt von Gott, der uns mit sich versöhnt hat durch Christus, und uns das Amt der Versöhnung gegeben hat.

Denn Gott hat in Christus die Welt mit sich versöhnt, indem er ihnen ihre Vergehen nicht anrechnete, und in uns das Wort der Versöhnung niedergelegt.

Für Christus also sind wir Gesandte, indem Gott gleichsam durch uns ermahnt. Wir bitten an Christi Statt: Lasset euch versöhnen mit Gott!

Den, welcher von keiner Sünde wusste, hat er für uns zur Sünde gemacht, damit wir Gerechtigkeit Gottes in ihm würden.
