- Kapitel 45 -

The word that Jeremiah the prophet spake unto Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at the mouth of Jeremiah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,

Thus saith the Lord , the God of Israel, unto thee, O Baruch;

Thou didst say, Woe is me now! for the Lord hath added grief to my sorrow; I fainted in my sighing, and I find no rest.

Thus shalt thou say unto him, The Lord saith thus; Behold, that which I have built will I break down, and that which I have planted I will pluck up, even this whole land.

And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the Lord : but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest.

Zusicherung an Baruch

Wort, welches der Prophet Jeremias zu Baruch, dem Sohne Nerias, redete, als derselbe die Worte, wie Jeremias sie aussprach, in ein Buch schrieb, im vierten Jahre Joakims, des Sohnes Josias, des Königs von Juda, also lautend:

So spricht der Herr, der Gott Israels, über dich, Baruch:

Du hast gesagt: Wehe mir Elenden, denn der Herr häuft mir Schmerz auf Schmerz, ich bin matt vom Seufzen und finde keine Ruhe!

So spricht der Herr: Also sprich zu ihm: Siehe, die, welche ich aufgebaut habe, reiße ich nieder und die, welche ich gepflanzt habe, reiße ich aus und zwar dieses ganze Land!

Und du verlangst für dich so Großes? Verlange dies nicht! Denn siehe, ich bringe Unglück über alles Fleisch, spricht der Herr; deinem Leben aber gewähre ich Sicherheit an allen Orten, an die du dich begibst.
