- Kapitel 43 -

But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.(a)

Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;

I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;

Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.

Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.

Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.

Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord , and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.(b)

I, even I, am the Lord ; and beside me there is no saviour.

I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord , that I am God.

Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?(c)

A Way in the Wilderness

Thus saith the Lord , your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.(d)

I am the Lord , your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.

Thus saith the Lord , which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;

Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.

Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.(e)

This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.

Israel’s Unfaithfulness

(Judges 2:10–15; Jeremiah 2:23–37)

But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.

Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense.(f)

Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.(g)

I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.

Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.(h)

Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.(i)

Der Erlöser Israels

Und nun, also spricht der Herr, der dich geschaffen hat, Jakob, der dich gebildet hat, Israel: Fürchte dich nicht, denn ich habe dich erlöst und dich bei deinem Namen gerufen, mein bist du!

Wenn du Gewässer durchschreitest, will ich bei dir sein und die Ströme werden dich nicht überfluten; wenn du durch Feuer gehst, wirst du nicht verbrennen und die Flamme wird dich nicht sengen.

Denn ich, der Herr, dein Gott, der Heilige Israels, bin dein Erlöser; ich gab als Sühnpreis Ägypten, Äthiopien und Saba an deiner Statt hin;

deswegen, weil du in meinen Augen wertgeachtet bist und herrlich und ich dich liebgewonnen habe, gebe ich Menschen für dich hin und Völker für dein Leben.

So fürchte dich nicht, denn ich bin mit dir; vom Aufgang her will ich deine Nachkommenschaft herbeiführen und vom Niedergang her dich sammeln.

Zur Mitternacht werde ich sprechen: Gib her! Und zum Mittag: Halte nicht zurück! Bringe meine Söhne herbei aus der Ferne und meine Töchter von den Enden der Erde!

Und jeden, der meinen Namen anruft, zu meiner Ehre habe ich ihn erschaffen, ihn gebildet und gemacht!

Führe heraus ein blindes Volk, das doch Augen hat, ein taubes, das doch Ohren hat!

Alle Völker allzumal sind zusammengekommen und versammelt haben sich die Stämme. Wer von euch kann solches verkünden und uns Früheres hören lassen? Sie mögen doch ihre Zeugen bringen und Recht erlangen, sie mögen hören und sagen: Es ist wahr!

Ihr seid meine Zeugen, spricht der Herr, und mein Knecht, den ich erkoren, auf dass ihr erkennet und mir glaubet und einsehet, dass ich es bin. Vor mir ward kein Gott gebildet und nach mir wird keiner sein.

Ich, ich bin der Herr und außer mir ist kein Retter.

Ich habe verkündet und errettet, ich habe es kundgetan und es war unter euch kein fremder Gott; ihr seid meine Zeugen, spricht der Herr, und ich bin Gott.

Von Anbeginn an bin ich es und es gibt keinen, der aus meiner Hand errette; ich handle und wer wird es mir hindern?

So spricht der Herr, euer Erlöser, der Heilige Israels: Euretwillen sende ich nach Babylon und reiße alle Riegel nieder und die auf ihre Schiffe stolzen Chaldäer.

Ich bin der Herr, euer Heiliger, der Schöpfer Israels, euer König.

So spricht der Herr, der durch das Meer einen Weg bahnt und durch reißende Wasser einen Pfad;

der Wagen und Ross ausziehen lässt, Heer und einen Starken; zusammen entschließen sie und werden nicht aufstehen, zerrieben sind sie wie ein Docht und ausgelöscht.

Gedenket nicht des Früheren und schauet nicht auf das Alte.

Sehet, ich schaffe Neues und jetzt wird es aufsprießen, ja, ihr werdet es erfahren; ich mache in der Wüste einen Weg und in der Öde Ströme.

Verherrlichen wird mich das Getier des Feldes, Drachen und Strauße; denn ich gab in der Wüste Wasser, Ströme in der Öde, um mein Volk zu tränken, mein auserwähltes.

Dieses Volk habe ich mir gebildet, es wird mein Lob verkünden.

Bitten an das untreue Israel

(Richter 2,10-15; Jeremia 2,23-37)

Du hast mich nicht angerufen, Jakob, noch dich um mich abgemüht, Israel!

Du hast mir nicht Widder deiner Brandopfer dargebracht und mich nicht mit deinen Schlachtopfern verherrlicht, ich legte dir keine harte Dienstbarkeit auf mit Speiseopfern noch war ich dir lästig um Weihrauch.

Du hast mir nicht um Silber Gewürzrohr gekauft noch mich mit dem Fette deiner Schlachtopfer gelabt, wohl aber warst du mir lästig durch deine Sünden, warst mir zur Plage durch deine Missetaten.

Ich bin es, nur ich, der deine Missetaten tilgt um meinetwillen und deiner Sünden nicht mehr gedenkt.

Rufe es mir ins Gedächtnis und lass uns miteinander rechten; zähle auf, wenn du etwas hast, damit du Recht erhaltest.

Dein erster Vater hat gesündigt und deine Verkündiger haben gegen mich gefrevelt.

Und ich entweihte heilige Fürsten und gab Jakob zum Untergange hin und Israel zur Lästerung.
