- Kapitel 1 -

(Jeremiah 3:11–25; Hosea 14:1–3)

In the eight moneth of the second yeere of Darius, came the worde of the Lord vnto Zechariah the sonne of Berechiah, the sonne of Iddo, the Prophet, saying,

The Lord hath bene sore displeased with your fathers.

Therefore say thou vnto them, Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Turne ye vnto me, saith the Lord of hostes, and I will turne vnto you, saith the Lord of hostes.

Be ye not as your fathers, vnto whome the former prophets haue cried, saying, Thus sayth the Lord of hostes, Turne you nowe from your euill wayes, and from your wicked workes: but they would not heare, nor hearken vnto me, saith the Lord.

your fathers, where are they? and doe the Prophets liue for euer?

But did not my wordes and my statutes, which I commanded by my seruants ye Prophets, take holde of your fathers? and they returned, and sayd, As the Lord of hostes hath determined to doe vnto vs, according to our owne wayes, and according to our workes, so hath hee dealt with vs.

The Vision of the Horses

Vpon the foure and twentieth day of the eleuenth moneth, which is the moneth Shebat, in the second yeere of Darius, came the worde of the Lord vnto Zechariah the sonne of Berechiah, the sonne of Iddo the Prophet, saying,

I saw by night, and behold a man riding vpon a red horse, and hee stood among the mirre trees, that were in a bottome, and behinde him were there red horses speckeled and white.

Then sayd I, O my Lord, what are these? And the Angel that talked with me, sayde vnto me, I wil shew thee what these be.

And the man that stood among the mirre trees, answered, and sayd, These are they whome the Lord hath sent to go through the world.

And they answered the Angel of the Lord, that stood among the mirre trees, and sayd, We haue gone thorowe the world: and beholde, all the world sitteth still, and is at rest.

Then the Angel of the Lord answered and sayd, O Lord of hostes, howe long wilt thou be vnmercifull to Ierusalem, and to the cities of Iudah, with whom thou hast bene displeased now these threescore and ten yeeres?

And the Lord answered the Angel that talked with me, with good wordes and comfortable wordes.

So the Angel that communed with me, said vnto me, Crie thou, and speake, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, I am ielous ouer Ierusalem and Zion with a great zeale,

And am greatly angrie against the carelesse heathen: for I was angrie but a litle, and they helped forward the affliction.

Therefore thus saith the Lord, I wil returne vnto Ierusalem with tender mercie: mine house shall be builded in it, saith the Lord of hostes, and a line shall be stretched vpon Ierusalem.

Cry yet, and speake, Thus saith the Lord of hostes, My cities shall yet be broken with plentie: the Lord shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet chuse Ierusalem.

The Vision of the Horns and the Craftsmen

Then lift I vp mine eyes and sawe, and beholde, foure hornes.

And I said vnto the Angel that talked with me, What be these? And hee answered me, These are the hornes which haue scattered Iudah, Israel, and Ierusalem.

And the Lord shewed me foure carpenters.

Then said I, What come these to doe? And he answered, and said, These are the hornes, which haue scattered Iudah, so that a man durst not lift vp his head: but these are come to fray them, and to cast out the hornes of the Gentiles, which lift vp their horne ouer the land of Iudah, to scatter it.

Ein Aufruf zur Umkehr

(Jeremia 3,11-25; Hosea 14,1-3)

Im achten Monat im zweiten Jahre des Königs Darius erging das Wort des Herrn an Zacharias, den Sohn Barachias, des Sohnes Addos, den Propheten, also:

Von gewaltigem Zorne ist der Herr entbrannt über eure Väter.

Doch sprich zu ihnen: So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: Kehret um zu mir, spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, so werde ich mich zu euch kehren, spricht der Herr der Heerscharen.

Seid nicht wie eure Väter, welche die früheren Propheten zugerufen haben: So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: Kehret um von eurem bösen Wandel und von euren schlimmen Anschlägen, aber sie hörten nicht und achteten nicht auf mich, spricht der Herr.

Wo sind nun eure Väter? Und die Propheten, können sie wohl ewig leben?

Aber meine Worte und meine Satzungen, die ich meinen Dienern, den Propheten, aufgetragen habe, haben sie nicht eure Väter ereilt? Da bekehrten sie sich und sprachen: Wie der Herr der Heerscharen beschlossen, uns nach unserm Wandel und nach unsern Bestrebungen zu tun, so hat er uns getan.

Die Vision von den Pferden

Am vierundzwanzigsten Tage des elften Monats Sabath im zweiten Jahre des Darius erging das Wort des Herrn an Zacharias, den Sohn Barachias, des Sohnes Addos, den Propheten, also lautend:

Ich hatte zur Nacht ein Gesicht und siehe, ein Mann, der auf einem roten Rosse saß, erschien zwischen Myrten in einem tiefen Talgrunde und hinter ihm waren Rosse, rote, gescheckte und weiße.

Da sprach ich: Wer sind diese, Herr? Der Engel, der mit mir redete, sprach zu mir: Ich will dir zeigen, wer diese sind.

Da begann der Mann, der zwischen den Myrten stand, und sprach: Dies sind die, welche der Herr ausgesandt hat, die Erde zu durchziehen.

Sie nun redeten zu dem Engel des Herrn, der zwischen den Myrten stand, und sprachen: Wir haben die Erde durchzogen und siehe, die ganze Erde wird friedlich bewohnt und ist in Ruhe.

Der HERR wird Zion trösten

Da begann der Engel des Herrn und sprach: Herr der Heerscharen! Wie lange noch willst du dich nicht über Jerusalem und die Städte Judas erbarmen, auf welche du zürnst? Dies ist schon das siebenzigste Jahr.

Da entgegnete der Herr dem Engel, der mit mir redete, gute Worte, trostreiche Worte.

Und der Engel, der mit mir redete, sprach zu mir: Verkünde also: So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: Ich eifere für Jerusalem und Sion mit großem Eifer

und bin von heftigem Zorne entbrannt wider die üppigen Völker; denn als ich ein wenig zürnte, halfen sie zum Unheil.

Darum spricht der Herr also: Ich werde mich Jerusalem in Erbarmen zuwenden und mein Haus soll in ihm wieder aufgebaut werden, spricht der Herr der Heerscharen, und die Meßschnur soll über Jerusalem ausgespannt werden.

Weiter verkünde also: So spricht der Herr der Heerscharen: Meine Städte werden noch von Gütern überfließen und noch wird der Herr Sion trösten und er wird Jerusalem noch auserwählen.

Vision der Hörner

Und ich erhob meine Augen und schaute: siehe, da waren vier Hörner.

Da sprach ich zu dem Engel, der mit mir redete: Was haben diese zu bedeuten? Er sprach zu mir: Das sind die Hörner, welche Juda und Israel und Jerusalem geworfelt haben.

Sodann zeigte der Herr mir vier Schmiede.

Da sprach ich: Was wollen diese tun? Er aber antwortete mir: Dies sind die Hörner, welche Juda Mann für Mann geworfelt haben, so dass niemand von ihnen sein Haupt erhob; diese aber sind gekommen, um sie in Schrecken zu setzen und die Hörner der Völker niederzuschlagen, welche das Horn wider das Land Juda erhoben, um es zu zerstreuen.
