- Kapitel 1 -

(Colossians 1:15–23)

At sundry times and in diuers maners God spake in the olde time to our fathers by the Prophetes: in these last dayes hee hath spoken vnto vs by his Sonne,

Whom he hath made heire of al things, by whome also he made the worldes,

Who being the brightnes of the glory, and the ingraued forme of his person, and bearing vp all things by his mightie worde, hath by himselfe purged our sinnes, and sitteth at the right hand of the Maiestie in the highest places,

And is made so much more excellent then the Angels, in as much as hee hath obteined a more excellent Name then they.

For vnto which of the Angels saide he at any time, Thou art my Sonne, this day begate I thee? and againe, I will be his Father, and he shalbe my Sonne?

And againe, when he bringeth in his first begotten Sonne into the worlde, hee saith, And let all the Angels of God worship him.

And of the Angels he saith, He maketh the spirites his messengers, and his ministers a flame of fire.

But vnto the Sonne he saith, O God, thy throne is for euer and euer: the scepter of thy kingdome is a scepter of righteousnes.

Thou hast loued righteousnes and hated iniquitie. Wherefore God, eue thy God, hath anointed thee with the oyle of gladnes aboue thy fellowes.

And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast established the earth, and the heauens are the workes of thine handes.

They shall perish, but thou doest remaine: and they all shall waxe olde as doeth a garment.

And as a vesture shalt thou folde them vp, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy yeeres shall not faile.

Vnto which also of the Angels saide he at any time, Sit at my right hand, til I make thine enemies thy footestoole?

Are they not al ministring spirits, sent forth to minister, for their sakes which shalbe heires of saluation?

Gottes Höchste Offenbarung

(Kolosser 1,15-23)

Nachdem Gott vor Zeiten vielfach und auf vielerlei Weise durch die Propheten zu den Vätern geredet,

hat er zuletzt in diesen Tagen zu uns geredet durch den Sohn, welchen er zum Erben über alles gesetzt, durch den er auch die Welt gemacht hat;

welcher, da er der Abglanz seiner Herrlichkeit und das Ebenbild seines Wesens ist, und durch das Wort seiner Macht alles trägt, sich, nachdem er uns von Sünden gereinigt, gesetzt hat zur Rechten der Majestät in der Höhe,

um so erhabener geworden, als die Engel, je ausgezeichneter der Name ist, den er vor ihnen ererbt hat.

Der über die Engel erhabene Sohn

Denn zu welchen von den Engeln hat Gott je gesprochen: Du bist mein Sohn, ich habe dich heute gezeugt? Und wiederum: Ich werde ihm Vater, und er wird mir Sohn sein?

Und wann er den Erstgeborenen abermals in die Welt einführt, spricht er: und es sollen ihn anbeten alle Engel Gottes!

Und von den Engeln heißt es wohl: Er macht zu seinen Boten die Winde, und zu seinen Dienern Feuerflammen;

von dem Sohne aber: Dein Thron, o Gott! steht immer in alle Ewigkeit; ein Zepter der Gerechtigkeit ist das Zepter deines Reiches.

Du hast die Gerechtigkeit geliebt und das Unrecht gehasst; darum hat dich, o Gott! dein Gott mit dem Öle der Freude gesalbt mehr als deine Genossen.

Und: Du hast im Anfange die Erde gegründet, o Herr! und die Werke deiner Hände sind die Himmel.

Sie werden vergehen, du aber wirst bleiben, und sie alle werden wie ein Kleid veralten,

und wie ein Gewand wirst du sie umwandeln, und sie werden gewandelt werden; du aber bist eben derselbe, und deine Jahre werden nicht aufhören.

Zu welchem von den Engeln aber hat er je gesagt: "Setze dich zu meiner Rechten, bis ich deine Feinde als Schemel unter deine Füße lege”?

Sind sie nicht alle dienende Geister, zum Dienste ausgesandt um derer willen, welche die Erbschaft des Heiles erlangen sollen?
