- Kapitel 22 -

(Psalm 57:1–11; Psalm 142:1–7)

Dauid therefore departed thence, and saued him selfe in the caue of Adullam: and when his brethren and all his fathers house heard it, they went downe thither to him.

And there gathered vnto him all men that were in trouble and all men that were in dette, and all those that were vexed in minde, and he was their prince, and there were with him about foure hundreth men.

And Dauid went thence to Mizpeh in Moab, and said vnto the King of Moab, I pray thee, let my father and my mother come and abide with you, till I knowe what God wil doe for me.

And he brought them before the King of Moab, and they dwelt with him all the while that Dauid was in the holde.

And the Prophet Gad sayde vnto Dauid, Abide not in the holde, but depart and goe into the land of Iudah. Then Dauid departed and came into the forest of Hareth.

Saul Slays the Priests of Nob

(Psalm 52:1–9)

And Saul heard that Dauid was discouered, and the men that were with him, and Saul remayned in Gibeah vnder a tree in Ramah, hauing his speare in his hande, and all his seruants stoode about him.

And Saul said vnto his seruants that stood about him, Heare now, ye sonnes of Iemini, wil the sonne of Ishai giue euery one of you fields and vineyardes: will he make you all captaines ouer thousands, and captaines ouer hundreths:

That all ye haue conspired against me, and there is none that tellerh mee that my sonne hath made a couenant with the sonne of Ishai? and there is none of you that is sory for me, or sheweth mee, that my sonne hath stirred vp my seruant to lie in wayte against me, as appeareth this day?

Then answered Doeg the Edomite (who was appoynted ouer the seruants of Saul) and sayd, I saw the sonne of Ishai when he came to Nob, to Ahimelech the sonne of Ahitub,

Who asked counsell of the Lord for him and gaue him vitailes, and he gaue him also the sword of Goliath the Philistim.

Then the King sent to call Ahimelech the Priest the sonne of Ahitub, and all his fathers house, to wit, the Priests that were in Nob: and they came all to the King.

And Saul said, Heare now thou sonne of Ahitub. And he answered, Here I am, my lord.

Then Saul sayde vnto him, Why haue yee conspired against me, thou and the sonne of Ishai, in that thou hast giuen him vitaile, and a sworde, and hast asked counsell of God for him, that he should rise against me, and lye in wayte as appeareth this day?

And Ahimelech answered the King, and sayde, Who is so faithfull among all thy seruants as Dauid, being also the Kings sonne in lawe, and goeth at thy commandement, and is honourable in thine house?

Haue I this day first begun to aske counsell of God for him? be it farre from mee, let not the King impute any thing vnto his seruant, nor to all the house of my father: for thy seruant knew nothing of all this, lesse nor more.

Then the King sayd, Thou shalt surely die, Ahimelech, thou, and all thy fathers house.

And the King sayde vnto the sergeantes that stoode about him, Turne, and slay the Priestes of the Lord, because their hand also is with Dauid, and because they knewe when he fled, and shewed it not vnto mee. But the seruantes of the King would not moue their hands to fall vpon the Priests of the Lord.

Then the King sayde to Doeg, Turne thou and fall vpon the Priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and ran vpon the Priestes, and slewe that same daye foure score and fiue persons that did weare a linen Ephod.

Also Nob the citie of the Priestes smote he with the edge of the sword, both man and woman, both childe and suckling, both oxe and asse, and sheepe with the edge of the sword.

But one of the sonnes of Ahimelech the sonne of Ahitub (whose name was Abiathar) escaped and fled after Dauid.

And Abiathar shewed Dauid, that Saul had slayne the Lords Priestes.

And Dauid sayd vnto Abiathar, I knewe it the same day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, that he would tell Saul. I am the cause of the death of all the persons of thy fathers house.

Abide thou with me, and feare not: for he that seeketh my life, shall seeke thy life also: for with me thou shalt be in safegard.

Davids vierhundert Männer

(Psalm 57,1-11; Psalm 142,1-7)

David zog nun von da hinweg und floh in die Höhle Odollam. Als dies seine Brüder und die ganze Verwandtschaft seines Vaters hörten, kamen sie zu ihm dorthin hinab.

Und es sammelten sich alle um ihn, welche in Nöten und die von Schulden gedrückt und missvergnügten Herzens waren; er wurde ihr Anführer und es waren gegen vierhundert Mann bei ihm.

Von da zog David nach Maspha, das in Moab liegt, und sprach zu dem Könige von Moab: Ich bitte, lass meinen Vater und meine Mutter bei euch bleiben, bis ich weiß, was Gott mit mir tun wird.

So ließ er sie bei dem Könige von Moab und sie blieben bei ihm alle Tage hindurch, welche David in dem festen Platze war.

Da sprach der Prophet Gad zu David: Bleibe nicht in dem festen Platze, mache dich auf und gehe in das Land Juda! Und David zog fort und kam in den Wald Haret.

Saul ermordet die Priester

(Psalm 52,1-9)

Saul aber vernahm, dass David mit den Männern, die bei ihm waren, gesehen worden. Als nun Saul in Gabaa weilte und in dem Walde war, der in Rama ist, und den Speer in seiner Hand hielt und alle seine Diener ihn umstanden,

sprach er zu seinen Dienern, die ihn umstanden: Höret, ihr Söhne Jeminis! Wird der Sohn Isais euch allen Felder und Weinberge geben und wird er euch alle zu Obersten über tausend und zu Hauptleuten über hundert machen,

dass ihr euch alle wider mich verschworen habt und niemand mir etwas meldet, zumal ja selbst mein Sohn mit dem Sohne Isais einen Bund geschlossen hat? Niemand unter euch fühlt mit mir Mitleid und keiner offenbart es mir, weil mein Sohn meinen Knecht wider mich aufgewiegelt hat, dass er mir bis heute nachstellt.

Da antwortete Doeg, der Idumäer, der dabei stand und der oberste unter den Dienern Sauls war, und sprach: Ich habe den Sohn Isais in Nobe bei dem Priester Achimelech, dem Sohne Achitobs, gesehen.

Dieser befragte für ihn den Herrn und gab ihm Lebensmittel; auch das Schwert Goliaths, des Philisters, hat er ihm gegeben.

Da sandte der König hin und ließ den Priester Achimelech, den Sohn Achitobs, und seine ganze väterliche Verwandtschaft, die Priester, welche zu Nobe waren, holen und sie kamen alle zu dem Könige.

Und Saul sprach zu Achimelech: Höre, Sohn Achitobs! Er antwortete: Hier bin ich, Herr!

Saul sprach zu ihm: Warum habt ihr euch wider mich verschworen, du und der Sohn Isais, dass du ihm Brote und ein Schwert gabst und Gott für ihn befragtest, damit er sich wider mich erhöbe und mir immerfort nachstellte bis heute?

Achimelech antwortete dem Könige und sprach: Wer ist unter allen deinen Dienern so treu wie David und der Schwiegersohn des Königs und deinen Befehlen gehorchend und hochgeehrt in deinem Hause?

Habe ich denn etwa heute erst angefangen, Gott für ihn zu befragen? Das sei fern von mir! Wolle der König gegen seinen Diener keinen solchen Verdacht hegen in dem ganzen Hause meines Vaters, denn dein Diener hat von dieser Angelegenheit nichts gewusst, weder Großes noch Geringes.

Da sprach der König: Du musst des Todes sterben, Achimelech, du und das ganze Haus deines Vaters!

Und der König gebot den Trabanten, die ihm umstanden: Wendet euch gegen die Priester des Herrn und tötet sie! Denn ihre Hand ist mit David; sie wussten, dass er auf der Flucht war, und haben es mir nicht kundgetan. Aber die Diener des Königs wollten ihre Hand nicht gegen die Priester des Herrn ausstrecken.

Da sprach der König zu Doeg: Wende du dich gegen die Priester und falle über sie her!

Nobe aber, die Priesterstadt, schlug er mit der Schärfe des Schwertes, Männer und Weiber, Kinder und Säuglinge, Rinder und Esel und Schafe mit der Schärfe des Schwertes.

Nur ein Sohn Achimelechs, des Sohnes Achitobs, dessen Name Abiathar war, entkam und floh zu David

und verkündete ihm, dass Saul die Priester des Herrn hatte töten lassen.

Da sprach David zu Abiathar: Ich wusste an jenem Tage, da der Idumäer Doeg dort war, dass er es sicher Saul anzeigen würde. Ich trage die Schuld am Tode aller Verwandten deines Vaters!

Bleibe bei mir, fürchte dich nicht; wenn jemand mir nach dem Leben trachtet, der wird auch dir nach dem Leben trachten und du wirst mit mir gerettet werden.
