- Kapitel 4 -

Let a man so thinke of vs, as of the ministers of Christ, and disposers of the secrets of God:

And as for the rest, it is required of the disposers, that euery man be found faithfull.

As touching me, I passe very litle to be iudged of you, or of mans iudgement: no, I iudge not mine owne selfe.

For I know nothing by my selfe, yet am I not thereby iustified: but he that iudgeth me, is the Lord.

Therefore iudge nothing before the time, vntill the Lord come, who will lighten things that are hid in darkenesse, and make the counsels of the hearts manifest: and then shall euery man haue praise of God.

Nowe these things, brethren, I haue figuratiuely applied vnto mine owne selfe and Apollos, for your sakes, that ye might learne by vs, that no man presume aboue that which is written, that one swell not against another for any mans cause.

For who separateth thee? and what hast thou, that thou hast not receiued? if thou hast receiued it, why reioycest thou, as though thou haddest not receiued it?

Nowe ye are full: nowe ye are made rich: ye reigne as kings without vs, and would to God ye did reigne, that we also might reigne with you.

For I thinke that God hath set forth vs the last Apostles, as men appointed to death: for we are made a gasing stocke vnto the worlde, and to the Angels, and to men.

We are fooles for Christes sake, and ye are wise in Christ: we are weake, and ye are strong: ye are honourable, and we are despised.

Vnto this houre we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and haue no certaine dwelling place,

And labour, working with our owne handes: we are reuiled, and yet we blesse: we are persecuted, and suffer it.

We are euill spoken of, and we pray: we are made as the filth of the world, the offskowring of all things, vnto this time.

Paul’s Fatherly Warning

I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloued children I admonish you.

For though ye haue tenne thousand instructours in Christ, yet haue ye not many fathers: for in Christ Iesus I haue begotten you through the Gospel.

Wherefore, I pray you, be ye folowers of me.

For this cause haue I sent vnto you Timotheus, which is my beloued sonne, and faithfull in the Lord, which shall put you in remembrance of my wayes in Christ as I teache euery where in euery Church.

Some are puffed vp as though I woulde not come vnto you.

But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will knowe, not the wordes of them which are puffed vp, but the power.

For the kingdome of God is not in worde, but in power.

What will ye? shall I come vnto you with a rod, or in loue, and in ye spirite of meekenes?

Verwalter der Geheimnisse Gottes

Also sehe uns jedermann an als Diener Christi, und Verwalter der Geheimnisse Gottes.

Hier wird nun von den Verwaltern gefordert, dass ein jeder treu erfunden werde.

Mir aber gilt es als etwas sehr Geringes, dass ich von euch oder von einem menschlichen Gerichtstage gerichtet werde; allein auch ich richte mich selbst nicht.

Denn ich bin mir auch nichts bewußt, so bin ich doch darum noch nicht gerechtfertigt; der mich aber richtet, ist der Herr.

Darum richtet nicht vor der Zeit, bis der Herr kommt, welcher auch das im Finstern Verborgene an das Licht bringen und die Absichten der Herzen offenbar machen wird; und dann wird einem jeden sein Lob werden von Gott.

Narren um Christi willen

Dies aber, Brüder! habe ich auf mich und Apollo übertragen um euretwillen, damit ihr an uns lernet, dass keiner sich wider den andern über das hinaus, was geschrieben steht, erhebe, um eines andern willen.

Denn wer zeichnet dich aus? Was hast du aber, das du nicht empfangen hättest? Wenn du es aber empfangen hast, warum rühmst du dich, als hättest du es nicht empfangen?

Schon seid ihr gesättigt, schon seid ihr reich geworden, ohne uns herrschet ihr; und möchtet ihr doch herrschen, damit auch wir mit euch herrschten!

Denn ich glaube, dass Gott uns Apostel als die Allerletzten dargestellt habe, als wie dem Tode Geweihte; denn ein Schauspiel sind wir geworden der Welt, den Engeln und den Menschen.

Wir sind Toren um Christi willen, ihr aber seid klug in Christus; wir sind schwach, ihr aber seid stark; ihr seid hochgeehrt, wir aber geringgeachtet.

Bis zu dieser Stunde hungern und dürsten wir, sind entblößt, und werden mit Fäusten geschlagen, haben keine Stätte,

und mühen uns arbeitend mit eigener Hand; wir werden geschmäht, und wir segnen; wir werden verfolgt, und wir leiden es geduldig;

wir werden gelästert, und wir beten; wie ein Auswurf dieser Welt sind wir geworden, wie ein Abschaum aller bis zu dieser Stunde.

Die väterliche Fürsorge des Paulus

Nicht um euch zu beschämen, schreibe ich dieses, sondern als meine geliebten Kinder ermahne ich euch.

Denn wenn ihr zehntausend Erzieher hättet in Christus, so habt ihr doch nicht viele Väter. Denn in Christus Jesus habe ich euch durch das Evangelium gezeugt.

So bitte ich euch denn, seid meine Nachfolger, gleichwie ich Christi Nachfolger bin.

Darum habe ich den Timotheus zu euch gesandt, der mein geliebtes und getreues Kind im Herrn ist; er wird euch meine Wege in´s Gedächtnis rufen, die in Christus Jesus sind, so wie ich allenthalben in allen Gemeinden lehre.

Als ob ich nicht zu euch kommen würde, so aufgeblasen sind einige geworden.

Ich werde aber bald zu euch kommen, wenn der Herr will; und werde nicht die Worte der Aufgeblasenen, sondern ihre Kraft kennenlernen.

Denn nicht in Worten besteht das Reich Gottes, sondern in Kraft.

Was wollt ihr? Soll ich mit der Rute zu euch kommen, oder in Liebe im Geiste der Milde?
