- Kapitel 28 -

Nowe Dauid assembled all the princes of Israel: the princes of the tribes, and the captaines of the bandes that serued the King, and the captaines of thousands and the captaines of hundreths, and the rulers of all the substance and possession of the King, and of his sonnes, with the eunuches, and the mightie, and all the men of power, vnto Ierusalem.

And King Dauid stoode vp vpon his feete; and saide, Heare ye me, my brethren and my people: I purposed to haue buylt an house of rest for the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, and for a footestoole of our God, and haue made ready for the building,

But God sayde vnto me, Thou shalt not buylde an house for my Name, because thou hast bene a man of warre, and hast shed blood.

Yet as the Lord God of Israel chose me before all the house of my father, to be King ouer Israel for euer (for in Iudah woulde he chuse a prince, and of the house of Iudah is the house of my father, and among the sonnes of my father he delited in me to make me King ouer all Israel)

So of all my sonnes (for the Lord hath giuen me many sonnes) he hath euen chosen Salomon my sonne to sit vpon the throne of the kingdome of the Lord ouer Israel.

And he sayd vnto me, Salomon thy sonne, he shall build mine house and my courtes: for I haue chosen him to be my sonne, and I will be his father.

I will stablish therefore his kingdome for euer, if he endeuour himselfe to do my commandements, and my iudgements, as this day.

Now therefore in the sight of all Israel the Congregation of the Lord, and in the audience of our God, keepe and seeke for all the commandements of the Lord your God, that ye may possesse this good lande, and leaue it for an inheritance for your children after you for euer.

And thou, Salomon my sonne, know thou the God of thy father, and serue him with a perfit heart, and with a willing minde: For the Lord searcheth all hearts, and vnderstandeth all the imaginations of thoughts: if thou seeke him, he will be found of thee, but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for euer.

Take heede now, for the Lord hath chosen thee to buylde the house of the Sanctuarie: be strong therefore, and doe it.

The Plans for the Temple

Then Dauid gaue to Salomon his sonne the paterne of the porch and of the houses thereof, and of the closets thereof, and of the galleries thereof, and of the chambers thereof that are within, and of the house of the mercieseate,

And the paterne of all that he had in his minde for the courtes of the house of the Lord, and for all the chambers round about, for the treasures of the house of God, and for the treasures of the dedicate things,

And for the courses of the Priestes, and of the Leuites, and for all the woorke for the seruice of the house of the Lord, and for all the vessels of the ministerie of the house of the Lord.

He gaue of golde by weight, for the vessels of gold, for all the vessels of all maner of seruice, and all the vessels of siluer by weight, for all maner vessels of all maner of seruice.

The weight also of golde for the candlestickes, and gold for their lampes, with the weight for euery candlesticke, and for the lampes thereof, and for the candlestickes of siluer by the weight of the candlesticke, and the lampes thereof, according to the vse of euery candlesticke,

And the weight of the gold for the tables of shewbread, for euery table, and siluer for the tables of siluer,

And pure golde for the fleshhookes, and the bowles, and plates, and for basens, golde in weight for euery basen, and for siluer basens, by weight for euery basen,

And for the altar of incense, pure golde by weight, and golde for the paterne of the charet of the Cherubs that spread themselues, and couered the Arke of the couenant of the Lord:

All, said he, by writing sent to me by the hand of the Lord, which made me vnderstand all the workemanship of the paterne.

And Dauid said to Salomon his sonne, Be strong, and of a valiant courage and doe it: feare not, nor be afraide: for the Lord God, euen my God is with thee: he will not leaue thee nor forsake thee till thou hast finished all the worke for the seruice of the house of the Lord.

Beholde also, the companies of the Priests and the Leuites for all the seruice of the house of God, euen they shall be with thee for the whole worke, with euery free heart that is skilfull in any maner of seruice. The princes also and all the people will be wholy at thy commandement.

Salomos Auftrag zum Bau des Tempels

Und David berief alle Fürsten Israels, die Häupter der Stämme, die Obersten des königlichen Hofgesindes, die Obersten und Hauptleute und die Verwalter des Vermögens und der Besitzungen des Königs und seine Söhne sowie die Kämmerer und alle heldenhaften und starken Männer im Heere nach Jerusalem.

Und der König erhob sich und sprach: Höret mich, meine Brüder und mein Volk! Ich gedachte ein Haus zu bauen, in dem die Lade des Bundes des Herrn ruhen sollte und das ein Fußschemel unseres Gottes wäre, und ich rüstete alles zum Baue.

Gott aber sprach zu mir: Du sollst meinem Namen kein Haus bauen, denn du bist ein Mann des Krieges und hast Blut vergossen.

Aber der Herr, der Gott Israels, erwählte mich aus dem ganzen Hause meines Vaters, dass ich König sei über Israel immerdar; denn aus Juda erwählte er die Fürsten und von dem Hause Juda das Haus meines Vaters und von den Söhnen meines Vaters gefiel es ihm, mich zum König über ganz Israel zu erwählen.

So hat er auch von meinen Söhnen (denn der Herr hat mir viele Söhne gegeben.) meinen Sohn Salomon erwählt, dass er auf dem Thron des Reiches des Herrn über Israel sitze,

und zu mir gesprochen: Dein Sohn Salomon soll mein Haus und meine Vorhöfe erbauen; denn ihn habe ich mir zum Sohne erwählt und ich werde ihm Vater sein.

Und ich will seine Herrschaft auf immer fest gründen in Ewigkeit, wenn er dabei beharrt, meine Gebote und meine Vorschriften zu beobachten, wie jetzt.

Nun also vor der ganzen Gemeinde Israels und vor den Ohren unseres Gottes haltet und erforschet alle Gebote des Herrn, unseres Gottes, auf dass ihr das gute Land in Besitz behaltet und es euern Söhnen nach euch auf immer hinterlasset.

Du aber, mein Sohn Salomon! erkenne den Gott deines Vaters und diene ihm mit ungeteiltem Herzen und mit willigem Gemüte; denn der Herr durchforscht alle Herzen und kennt alle Gedanken der Gemüter. Wenn du ihn suchst, wirst du ihn finden; wenn du ihn aber verlässest, wird er dich auf ewig verwerfen.

Weil der Herr dich also erwählt hat, das Haus des Heiligtums zu bauen, so sei denn stark und vollbringe es!

Hierauf gab David seinem Sohne Salomon den Abriss von der Halle, dem Tempel, den Zellen, dem Saale, den inneren Kammern und dem Hause der Versöhnung,

sowie auch von allem, was er im Sinn hatte, von den Vorhöfen und den Kammern ringsum für die Schätze des Hauses des Herrn und für die Schätze der geweihten Gaben

und in betreff der Abteilungen der Priester und Leviten, für jede Verrichtung im Hause des Herrn und für alle Gerätschaften zum Dienste im Tempel des Herrn;

Gold nach dem Gewichte für alle Gerätschaften des Dienstes, auch Silber je nach dem Gewicht nach der Verschiedenartigkeit der Gerätschaften zum Dienste;

ferner Gold für die goldenen Leuchter und deren Lampen, je nach dem Gewicht eines jeden Leuchters und der Lampen. In gleicher Weise gab er auch eine große Menge Silbers zu den silbernen Leuchtern und zu deren Lampen, je nach verschiedenem Maße.

Auch gab er Gold für die Tische der Schaubrote nach der Verschiedenheit der Tische; ebenso auch Silber für andere silberne Tische.

Und für die Gabeln und Schalen und Rauchfässer aus reinstem Gold, sowie zu den goldenen kleinen Löwen, bestimmte er nach Verhältnis des Maßes das Gewicht, Löwe für Löwe; desgleichen forderte er auch für die silbernen Löwen Silber verschiedenen Gewichtes ab.

Für den Altar, auf dem das Räucherwerk angezündet wird, gab er das lauterste Gold; auch sollte von solchem das Abbild des Gespanns der Cherubim gemacht werden, die ihre Flügel ausbreiten und die Lade des Bundes des Herrn decken.

Alles, sprach er, ist mir, von der Hand des Herrn geschrieben, zuteil geworden, damit ich alle Werke des Vorbildes verstände.

Sodann sprach David zu seinem Sohne Salomon: Sei fest und entschlossen und führe es aus! Fürchte dich nicht und zage nicht; denn der Herr, mein Gott, wird mit dir sein und wird dich nicht im Stiche lassen, noch verlassen, bis du das ganze Werk für den Dienst des Hauses des Herrn vollendet hast.

Siehe, hier sind die Abteilungen der Priester und Leviten, die zu jedem Dienste im Hause des Herrn bereit dir zur Seite stehen; und ebenso die Fürsten, wie das Volk, wissen alle deine Befehle auszuführen.
