- Kapitel 7 -

(Matthew 15:1–9)

And the Pharisees and some of the scribes, arriving from Jerusalem, gathered together before him.

And when they had seen certain ones from his disciples eating bread with common hands, that is, with unwashed hands, they disparaged them.

For the Pharisees, and all the Jews, do not eat without repeatedly washing their hands, holding to the tradition of the elders.

And when returning from the market, unless they wash, they do not eat. And there are many other things which have been handed down to them to observe: the washings of cups, and pitchers, and bronze containers, and beds.

And so the Pharisees and the scribes questioned him: “Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but they eat bread with common hands?”

But in response, he said to them: “So well did Isaiah prophesy about you hypocrites, just as it has been written: ‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.

And in vain do they worship me, teaching the doctrines and precepts of men.’(a)

For abandoning the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men, to the washing of pitchers and cups. And you do many other things similar to these.”

And he said to them: “You effectively nullify the precept of God, so that you may observe your own tradition.

For Moses said: ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever will have cursed father or mother, let him die a death.’

But you say, ‘If a man will have said to his father or mother: Korban, (which is a gift) whatever is from me will be to your benefit,’(b)

then you do not release him to do anything for his father or mother,

rescinding the word of God through your tradition, which you have handed down. And you do many other similar things in this way.”

What Defiles a Man

(Matthew 15:10–20)

And again, calling the crowd to him, he said to them: “Listen to me, all of you, and understand.

There is nothing from outside a man which, by entering into him, is able to defile him. But the things which proceed from a man, these are what pollute a man.(c)

Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”

And when he had entered into the house, away from the crowd, his disciples questioned him about the parable.

And he said to them: “So, are you also without prudence? Do you not understand that everything entering to a man from outside is not able to pollute him?

For it does not enter into his heart, but into the gut, and it exits into the sewer, purging all foods.”

“But,” he said “the things which go out from a man, these pollute a man.

For from within, from the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

thefts, avarice, wickedness, deceitfulness, homosexuality, an evil eye, blasphemy, self-exaltation, foolishness.

All these evils proceed from within and pollute a man.”

The Faith of the Gentile Woman

(Matthew 15:21–28)

And rising up, he went from there to the area of Tyre and Sidon. And entering into a house, he intended no one to know about it, but he was not able to remain hidden.

For a woman whose daughter had an unclean spirit, as soon as she heard about him, entered and fell prostrate at his feet.

For the woman was a Gentile, by birth a Syro-Phoenician. And she petitioned him, so that he would cast the demon from her daughter.

And he said to her: “First allow the sons to have their fill. For it is not good to take away the bread of the sons and throw it to the dogs.”

But she responded by saying to him: “Certainly, Lord. Yet the young dogs also eat, under the table, from the crumbs of the children.”

And he said to her, “Because of this saying, go; the demon has gone out of your daughter.”

And when she had gone to her house, she found the girl lying on the bed; and the demon had gone away.

The Deaf and Mute Man

(Matthew 9:27–34)

And again, departing from the borders of Tyre, he went by way of Sidon to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the area of the Ten Cities.(d)

And they brought someone who was deaf and mute to him. And they begged him, so that he would lay his hand upon him.

And taking him away from the crowd, he put his fingers into his ears; and spitting, he touched his tongue.

And gazing up to heaven, he groaned and said to him: “Ephphatha,” which is, “Be opened.”

And immediately his ears were opened, and the impediment of his tongue was released, and he spoke correctly.(e)

And he instructed them not to tell anyone. But as much as he instructed them, so much more did they preach about it.

And so much more did they wonder, saying: “He has done all things well. He has caused both the deaf to hear and the mute to speak.”

Die Verunreinigung kommt von innen

(Matthäus 15,1-9)

Und es versammelten sich bei ihm die Pharisäer und einige von den Schriftgelehrten, die von Jerusalem kamen.

Als sie nun sahen, wie einige seiner Jünger mit unreinen, das ist mit ungewaschenen Händen Speise nahmen, rügten sie es.

Denn die Pharisäer und alle Juden essen nicht, ohne sich öfter die Hände gewaschen zu haben, indem sie festhalten an den Überlieferungen der Alten.

Auch essen sie nicht, wenn sie vom Markte kommen, ohne sich zuvor zu baden. Und so gibt es noch viele andere Dinge, die zu beobachten sie von den Vorfahren überkommen haben: Abwaschen von Bechern und Krügen und Kupfergeschirren und Betten.

Daher fragten ihn die Pharisäer und Schriftgelehrten: Warum wandeln deine Jünger nicht nach der Satzung der Alten, sondern essen ihre Speisen mit ungewaschenen Händen?

Er aber antwortete, und sprach zu ihnen: Treffend hat Isaias von euch Heuchlern geweissagt, wie geschrieben steht: Dieses Volk ehret mich mit den Lippen, ihr Herz aber ist fern von mir.

Vergeblich aber ehren sie mich, weil sie Lehre und Satzungen von Menschen lehren.

Denn während ihr das Gebot Gottes hintansetzt, haltet ihr die Überlieferung der Menschen, Waschungen von Krügen und Bechern; und anderes derart tut ihr vieles.

Und er sprach zu ihnen: Schön lasset ihr das Gebot Gottes nichts gelten, damit ihr eure Überlieferung wahret.

Denn Moses hat gesagt: Ehre deinen Vater und deine Mutter. Und: Wer Vater oder Mutter flucht, soll des Todes sterben.

Ihr aber saget: Wenn einer zum Vater oder zur Mutter sagt: Korban, das heißt Weihegeschenk, sei alles, was dir von mir zu Gute kommt,

da lasset ihr ihn nichts mehr für seinen Vater oder seine Mutter tun,

indem ihr das Wort Gottes für ungültig erklärt durch eure Überlieferung, die ihr gegeben habt; und ähnliches derart tut ihr vieles.

(Matthäus 15,10-20)

Und er rief abermals das Volk herbei, und sprach zu ihnen: Höret mich alle, und verstehet es wohl!

Nichts ist außerhalb des Menschen, was in denselben eingehend ihn unrein machen könnte, aber was von dem Menschen herauskommt, das ist es, was den Menschen verunreinigt.

Wer Ohren hat zu hören, der höre!

Als er nun vom Volk weggehend in ein Haus eingetreten war, befragten ihn seine Jünger über das Gleichnis.

Und er sprach zu ihnen: Seid auch ihr so ohne Verständnis? Sehet ihr nicht ein, dass alles, was von außen in den Menschen eingeht, ihn nicht verunreinigen kann,

weil es nicht in sein Herz eingeht, sondern in den Leib kommt, und den natürlichen Ausgang nimmt, der alle Speisen ausscheidet?

Was aber, sprach er, von dem Menschen ausgeht, das macht den Menschen unrein.

Denn von innen, aus dem Herzen der Menschen, kommen die bösen Gedanken, Ehebrüche, Unzucht, Mordtaten,

Diebstähle, Geiz, Bosheit, Betrug, Schamlosigkeit, Scheelsucht, Gotteslästerung, Hoffart und Torheit.

All dies Böse kommt von innen heraus, und verunreinigt den Menschen.

Eine Nichtjüdin zeigt ihren Glauben

(Matthäus 15,21-28)

Und von da machte er sich auf, und zog in das Gebiet von Thyrus und Sidon. Und er trat in ein Haus, und wollte, dass es niemand erfahren sollte; er konnte aber nicht verborgen bleiben.

Denn kaum hatte ein Weib, deren Tochter einen unreinen Geist hatte, von ihm gehört, so ging sie sogleich hinein, und fiel ihm zu Füßen.

Das Weib aber war eine Heidin, aus Syrophönizien gebürtig. Und sie bat ihn, dass er den bösen Geist von ihrer Tochter austreiben möchte.

Er aber sprach zu ihr: Lass zuerst die Kinder satt werden; denn es ist nicht recht, das Brot der Kinder zu nehmen, und es den Hunden vorzuwerfen.

Sie aber antwortete, und sprach zu ihm: Ja Herr! Denn auch die Hündlein essen unter dem Tische von den Brosamen der Kinder.

Und er sprach zu ihr: Um dieses Wortes willen gehe hin, der böse Geist ist ausgefahren von deiner Tochter.

Und als sie in ihr Haus kam, fand sie das Mädchen auf dem Bette liegen, und den bösen Geist ausgefahren.

Jesus heilt einen Taubstummen

(Matthäus 9,27-34)

Und er ging wieder weg von den Grenzen von Thyrus, und kam durch Sidon an das galiläische Meer, mitten durch das Gebiet der Zehn-Städte.

Da brachten sie einen Taubstummen zu ihm, und baten ihn, dass er ihm die Hand auflegen möchte.

Und er nahm ihn von dem Volke abseits, legte seine Finger in seine Ohren, und berührte seine Zunge mit Speichel,

sah gen Himmel auf, seufzte, und sprach zu ihm: Ephphetha, das ist: Tue dich auf!

Und sogleich öffneten sich seine Ohren, und das Band seiner Zunge ward gelöst, und er redete richtig.

Da gebot er ihnen, sie sollten es niemanden sagen. Aber je mehr er es ihnen gebot, desto mehr breiteten sie es aus;

und desto mehr gerieten sie außer sich vor Verwunderung, und sprachen: Er hat alles wohl gemacht, die Tauben macht er hörend und die Stummen redend!
